Our Surgical Team
Medical Director, Dr David Joseph, has been performing Bariatric Surgery for more than 15 years. He is a highly experienced surgeon who also performs liver and kidney transplants, as well as complex abdominal open and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgical procedures. Dr Joseph studied
Medicine at the University of Sydney. He trained at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) and Concord Hospitals in Sydney, and at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in the United States.
Dr Robert Gandy is a highly trained Laparoscopic Surgeon who has worked alongside Dr David Joseph since 2017. He specialises in conditions of the Upper GI Tract, including the Liver, Stomach, Oesophagus and Pancreas. He studied Medicine at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, completing his Masters at the University of Sydney. He trained at Yorkshire School of Surgery (UK) and completed his fellowship at the Bankstown, Liverpool and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals.
Costs
If you have Private Health Insurance that covers you for Bariatric Surgery (and this is your first Bariatric procedure), BodyFree has a fixed fee program for $3,750 for Gastric Sleeve or Gastric Bypass procedures. This program covers pre and post-operative care, surgery, and post-operative follow-up. This includes all of your medical (including surgeon and bariatric physician) and dietitian consults, surgeon, anaesthetist and surgical assistant costs, and 2 years of follow up at our clinic. (If you are enquiring about Revision Bariatric Surgery, after a previous bariatric operation, then this program cost is $5,990 – $6,990)

We have affordable programs available for patients who are not covered by Private Health Insurance. These fixed fee program costs are $13,490 for our basic program with limited post-operative care, or $14,990 for our all inclusive program
