Weight Loss Surgery Pricing Sydney

Transparent, Fixed-Fee Programs With No Surprises

At BodyFree, we offer clear, structured pricing for Gastric Sleeve and Gastric Bypass surgery in Sydney — so you know exactly what to expect before you proceed.

Our pricing is designed to give you clear, upfront costs after Medicare and health fund rebates, so you can plan your treatment with certainty — without hidden fees or unexpected expenses.

How Much Does Weight Loss Surgery Cost?

The cost of gastric sleeve surgery and gastric bypass surgery in Sydney depends on whether patients have private health insurance cover for bariatric surgery. See pricing for:

We will discuss expected costs when you book your initial consultation, with a detailed written quote provided after your appointment.

Private Health Insurance Weight Loss Surgery Fees

Patients with eligible private health insurance typically pay $6,580 after Medicare and health fund rebates (for first-time Gastric Sleeve or Gastric Bypass procedures).

Do you hold Private Health Insurance?

For patients who hold Private Health Insurance that covers them for Bariatric Surgery (gastric sleeve or gastric bypass), and who have not had a previous Bariatric procedure, BodyFree can provide all of your pre and post-operative care, surgery, and ongoing follow-up for a transparent, fixed-fee from $6,580.

Please note, you may also be required to pay a hospital excess as directed by your Private Health Fund – this fee is not included in our Weight Loss Surgery pricing or program fee.

BodyFree Weight Loss Surgery Program Inclusions

Our programs are built to provide complete, structured care before and after surgery, supporting both your safety and long-term results.

* Package price includes in clinic surgical follow up consult. Post operative Telehealth consults will incur additional fees.

Please note, if you require Revision Bariatric Surgery after a previous operation, then this will incur a higher cost. For patients with private health insurance, the cost is $10,900 and Medicare and insurance rebates have been applied. Weight Loss Surgery pricing for this all-inclusive program is higher due to the complex and specialised nature of the procedure, potential additional pre-operative investigations and increased post-operative care.

Many lower advertised fees exclude key parts of care – our programs are designed to include everything you need from surgery through to long-term follow-up.

Funding Weight Loss Surgery with Superannuation

Using Superannuation for Weight Loss Surgery

We know that covering the cost of weight loss surgery can be a challenge.  Some patients may be able to use their Superannuation to cover part or all of the costs if they have the funds available.

How does using superannuation to fund weight loss surgery work?

In certain circumstances, patients may be able to access their superannuation funds to help cover the cost of weight loss surgery on compassionate grounds.

This involves submitting an application through the ATO via your MyGov account.

As part of the application, you will need supporting medical documentation from both your GP and your treating specialist, Dr David Joseph.

Our team will provide the required documentation along with clear, step-by-step instructions to guide you through the process.

Once submitted, the application process can take several weeks before funds are released.

For more information about early access to superannuation, please visit the ATO Website.

Can BodyFree Assist with Super Applications?

Yes — our team will provide the required documentation along with clear, step-by-step instructions to guide you through the process.

Shortly following your initial consultation with Dr David Joseph, we will provide a completed specialist form and supporting letter required for your superannuation application. Please note that we are unable to provide this documentation prior to your consultation.

You will also receive step-by-step instructions outlining how to submit your application through MyGov. If you prefer additional assistance, we can recommend trusted third-party services who can manage the submission process on your behalf.

As the superannuation approval process can take several weeks, we typically schedule surgery approximately 8–10 weeks after your consultation to allow sufficient time for approval and release of funds.

Please note, while we provide the required medical documentation, we are unable to offer financial or taxation advice. We recommend speaking with your super fund or a qualified financial adviser if you have questions about the implications of accessing your superannuation.

Funding Weight Loss Surgery with Medical Finance

Weight Loss Surgery Medical Loans & Payment Plans

For patients who do not have immediate access to funds or who prefer an alternative option, medical finance may be considered.

About Medical Loans and Payment Plans

Some lenders offer payment plans that allow you to access funds upfront to cover all or part of the cost of surgery, which are then repaid over time through an agreed arrangement with the lender.

Repayment amounts vary, however some plans may start from approximately $95 per week, depending on individual circumstances.

You can explore available payment plan options directly with TLC.
