Is the BodyFree program available for insured and uninsured patients?

Yes. BodyFree offers all-inclusive programs for both insured and uninsured patients. The clinic also offers a basic weight loss surgery program for eligible uninsured gastric sleeve patients who have not had previous weight loss surgery.

How long is the hospital stay included in the program?

The BodyFree program includes a hospital stay of approximately one to two nights, depending on the procedure and individual recovery.

How long does BodyFree provide follow-up after surgery?

The all-inclusive BodyFree program includes ongoing follow-up care at the clinic for 24 months after surgery.

Are phone follow-up consultations available?

Follow-up phone consultations may be available for patients who live more than 50 kilometres from the BodyFree clinic in Newtown, Sydney. A small additional fee may apply.

Do I need a GP referral for the BodyFree program?

A GP referral for the bariatric surgeon and an EPC Care Plan for dietitian appointments may be required so that relevant consultations can be completed without extra costs beyond the quoted program cost.

How do I start the BodyFree Weight Loss Surgery Program?

Surgery is performed by Dr David Joseph at accredited Sydney private hospitals, including Prince of Wales Private Hospital, East Sydney Private Hospital and Mater Hospital.

Please Note

* Due to the complex nature SADI and Revision Bariatric Surgery procedures these incur a higher fee than other Weight Loss Surgery procedures. Please contact us if you would like further details.

** Follow up phone consults are available to patients living more than 50km away from our clinic in Newtown, Sydney. Phone consults will incur a small additional fee payable one day prior to the consult.

*** A GP referral for your surgeon and EPC Care Plan for your dietitian are required in order for these consults to be completed without incurring further costs in addition to program costs quoted.

Depending on your individual treatment plan, your program may include consultations with your bariatric surgeon, anaesthetist, dietitian and bariatric physician, hospital admission for surgery, and ongoing follow-up care for up to two years after your procedure.

Weight loss surgery is only one part of the journey. The all inclusive BodyFree Weight Loss Surgery Programs includes ongoing follow-up care for up to two years after surgery to help support your recovery, nutrition, weight loss progress and long-term health outcomes.

Regular follow-up appointments allow our team to monitor your progress, address any concerns and provide guidance as your needs change following gastric sleeve surgery, gastric bypass surgery, SADI-S or revision bariatric surgery.
